What does the Competitor Roadmap Signals scorecard actually measure?

The scorecard measures five public roadmap-signal sources across up to three competitors: (1) job-post bursts — three or more adjacent-skill job posts in 60 days that didn't exist in the prior quarter; (2) public roadmap changes — roadmap card status flips, comment spikes, or vote-count climbs on Productboard/Canny/internal roadmap boards; (3) changelog and release-note cadence — new beta labels, preview tags, or category shifts across weekly changelog drops; (4) community and forum chatter — Discord/Slack chatter, subreddit posts, GitHub issues, or HN threads referencing an unannounced product area; and (5) betas and patent filings — closed-beta sign-up walls, reverse-tracked SDK releases, or USPTO filings that reveal an upcoming product surface. Each source is rated 1–5 per competitor.

How does the weighting and tier formula work?

The per-competitor composite is the straight sum of the five source scores, with each source rated 1–5, so the maximum composite is 20. Tiers break down as: 5–9 = Directional (a single weak signal — treat as noise floor until a second source correlates); 10–15 = Likely (two independent sources correlate within the same 4-week window — worth a one-paragraph note in the weekly competitive report); and 16–20 = Confirmed (a source-of-truth sighting — assign an owner and a response move within 48 hours).

How do I use this scorecard alongside /assess?

The scorecard is for live in-session scoring — drop in up to three competitors, score each of the five sources from memory, and capture the per-competitor tier in about 8 minutes. The inline lead form on the page POSTs to /api/assess with the first competitor slot pre-filled, and the CTAs link to /assess?utm_source=roadmap_signals_template so the assessment pipeline inherits the template's UTM source for the AI-summarized weekly digest.
